Israeli Military Shoot Gaza Farmer - 18th February 2009 Israeli forces shot a twenty year-old Palestinian farmer as he worked his land in the village of Al-Faraheen, east of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. International Human Rights Activists were accompanying the group of farmers at the time as they worked approximately 500m from the Green Line. Mohammad al - Breem, 20, was shot in the right leg as the farmers, together with the international Human Rights Activists, attempted to leave the area having worked on their land for 2 hours in full view of the Israeli forces situated along the Green Line. As the farmers were loading up the parsley and spinach from the agricultural lands shots were fired from Israeli forces on the border. Mohammad was shot in the right leg and evacuated, while still under fire, to hospital. International Human Rights Activists have repeatedly witnessed Palestinian farmers being shot at by Israeli forces as they attempt to work on agricultural land situated within 700m of the Green Line. With only one face to face meeting, a music producer from the North West, video production team from the North East and three piece band from Yorkshire have produced a full song and video package working solely across a high speed network. The NorthernNet digital pipeline offers transfer speeds that are 20 times faster than the average FTP, transferring 1GB of data in 1minute 20 seconds and is set to transform the Norths £21 billion digital and creative industries. 17 Pay As You Go (PAYG), Media Access Bureaux (MABs) located across the North offer editing suites and connection to the 1GB pipeline, which will help mark the region as a global competitor in the digital and creative sectors and to capitalise on the growth of MediaCityUK. Video Production Company, Magic If, created the video using the edit kit in the Media Access Bureaux (MAB) in Newcastle, new band The Defenders, wrote and recorded the song through Leeds Charity, Leeds Music Trust using the MAB in Leeds and the final mastering of the package took place in a MAB in Manchester by Serenity Pictures. The three met on NorthernNets NorthernKnowledge, a website portal where digital and creative industries can build profiles, share information and collaborate on projects. With a shared passion for football and music the three groups formed their own creative supergroup without having to leave their own cities. The 1GB NorthernNet digital pipeline available in Media Access Bureaux (MABs) across the cities have provided a high speed and secure platform for the three to use to collaborate work, enabling a real Northern Anthem to be developed without travelling across the regions. The collaboration of brand new talent has already impressed music heavyweights such as The Kaiser Chiefs, Pigeon Detectives and Embrace, who are backing the song set to be the technological champions of the 2010 Unofficial World Cup Anthem. Mercedes Clark Smith, Project Director of NorthernNet Innovation and Collaboration Project said: NorthernNet will give agencies an edge in creativity and quality as directors are able to work more securely and faster.
