Rihanna and Chris Brown headlines star studded Grammy Party "Disturbia" (HD)
Los Angeles police said they plan to detain R&B singer Chris Brown for questioning in connection with an alleged domestic violence assault against his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna, according to sources familiar with the investigation. [Updated 7:25 p.m.] Brown arrived at the Wilshire Division station about 7:15 p.m., accompanied by another man. The pair drove into a parking lot behind the station on Venice Boulevard, east of La Brea Avenue, in a black Escalade. Brown and the man entered through a back door where a posted sign stated for authorized personnel only. Police are expected to release a statement later this evening Brown and Rihanna canceled their performances at tonight's Grammy Awards. The incident is being investigated as a felony domestic violence case, police said. It was reported about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Hancock Park. Brown and Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, were apparently in a car together and got into an argument on North June Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. Brown stopped the car, the two got out, and the argument escalated, according to police. A witness called 911, but Brown was gone when officers arrived at the scene. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker, according to police. Brown and Rihanna had appeared together Saturday night at Clive Daviss pre-Grammy gala in Beverly Hills. Shortly before the Grammy show began at 5 p.m. at Staples Center, Grammy officials issued a statement saying, "We have just been informed Rihanna will not be attending tonights 51st Grammy Awards. Rihanna will not be performing. We are sorry to see she is unable to join us this evening. A publicist for the Barbados-born star, who sold more digital song downloads than any other in 2008 with nearly 10 million tracks, said Sunday night, Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support. Her song Disturbia, which shed been scheduled to perform at the ceremony, was the sixth best-selling digital track of the year. She was replaced by veteran soul singer Al Green, who was accompanied by country singer-guitarist Keith Urban. --Source LA Times Timbaland hosted a star-studded Grammy party Friday night. Drunken Speeches, Outfits Failures, and Tired Performances
(A lot of the footage was distorted towards the end so my thoughts on Madonna, lil mama, Solange, and more on Kanye was removed because of distortion. So forgive the abrupt ending my tape is old so accept my apology) Just my thoughts on the VMAs. There were to many messes to keep up with! Janet Jackson was the only performance I thought was really worthy of applause. I was very dissappointed with Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Pinks performances completely lack luster, flat, and just all over the place. None of them had performances that made sense to me. The Micheal tribute was the only performance that was put together well and was understandable, the message was: We're here to show you MICHEAL and show you why he is and will always be a LEGEND! Why isn't that song which was so popular toward the end of the year on the list? --Billboard's cutoff date is Dec 1st, to give them time to calculate the results and publish them well before New Years Day, which is good for me, since I need a little time to put this together and release it before the end of the year! 4. How long did this take you? --If you add it up, about a month. About two weeks earlier in the year using educated guesswork, and then two weeks between when Billboard released the list and when I put it out. 5. What software did you use? --Ableton Live for arranging the music. It's AWESOME, and it's what I use to DJ live with as well. Final Cut Pro for the video. For acapella extraction, see the next question. 6. How did you get the vocals without the instruments? --if you search for "acapella" with the name of your song, you might find an isolated vocal. In some cases, I use a bit of Adobe Audition (the Center Channel Extractor effect) for vocal isolation. This removes instruments that are to the left or right in your stereo, and leaves only the sound that's in the center. You can also use this effect to take an instrumental and a full track to create an acapella. Check out my book "Audio Mashup Construction Kit" for more details on this technique, there's a whole chapter on it. In a few instances I used Melodyne Studio for vocal isolation. 7. What are the lyrics? Who sang that one part? I want to make mashups, do you have any tips? --Learn as much music theory as possible! Get ACID or Ableton Live, and learn it well. Make sure you understand key and tempo, so you can sync everything and get the parts to harmonize correctly. If you're of a technical mindset, my book "Audio Mashup Construction Kit" covers my techniques in great detail. 9. Can I repost this video? --please, no, and thanks for asking! Use the music however you want, but don't simply repost the video in its entirety on your channel. I lots of people are doing it, but I wish they wouldn't! 10. Doesn't this prove how much pop music sucks nowadays and is basically interchangeable? --Not at all. If you alter the tempo and pitch of any music enough, you could get anything to fit together, whether it's Bach or the Black Eyed Peas. What it does prove is how far technology has come to make these alterations sound convincing. I've manipulated some of these vocals HEAVILY.
