My personal story of de-programming from christianity — told for transparency, and to honour the people who've been mailing me lately, sharing their own private stories of religious doubts. To those people, my respect and good wishes. A WORD ABOUT TRANSITIONS Going through transitions can feel like a destructive, painful process. I give a model of transition here which can be applied to many different episodes in life — partly to affirm that those difficult feelings are a healthy part of the process of letting go. Anger, pain, despair, emptiness: these are not pathological responses to loss or bereavement. Feeling these things shows we are connected with ourselves, and help prepare us for embracing new, strange-feeling, futures, and moving forward. This is one of two videos — and atheist diptych, if you will — giving a full account of my journey into atheism. Honda Develops New Personal Mobility Device: U3-X
Honda has developed a new personal mobility technology, U3-X. It is a compact experimental device that fits comfortably between the riders legs, to provide free movement in all directions just as in human walking forward, backward, side-to-side, and diagonally. Honda will continue research and development of the device including experiments in a real-world environment to verify the practicality of the device. This new personal mobility device makes it possible to adjust speed and move, turn and stop in all directions when the rider leans the upper body to shift body weight. This was achieved through application of advanced technologies including Hondas balance control technology, which was developed through the robotics research of ASIMO, Hondas bipedal humanoid robot, and the worlds first* omni-directional driving wheel system (Honda Omni Traction Drive System, or HOT Drive System), which enables movement in all directions, including not only forward and backward, but also directly to the right and left and diagonally. In addition, this compact size and one-wheel-drive personal mobility device was designed to be friendly to the user and people around it by making it easier for the rider to reach the ground from the footrest and placing the rider on roughly the same eye level as other people or pedestrians. Key features of U3-X: Free movement just as in human walking 1.Device control featuring application of balance control technology cultivated through ASIMO research: The incline sensor detects the incline of the device based on the weight shift of the rider and determines the riders intention in terms of the direction and speed. Based on the data, precise control is applied to return the device to an upright position, which achieves smooth and agile movements and simple operation by weight shift only. 2.HOT Drive System (Omni-directional driving wheel system): Honda developed the worlds first wheel structure which enables movement in all directions including forward, backward, side-to-side and diagonally. Multiple small-diameter motor-controlled wheels were connected in-line to form one large-diameter wheel. By moving the large-diameter wheel, the device moves forward and backward, and by moving small-diameter wheels, the device moves side-to-side. By combining these movements the device moves diagonally. Compact size which fit between the users legs 3.Compact and innovative package: The combination of the balance control technology and the HOT Drive System enabled the one-wheel style compact and innovative package of the device. In addition, the device adopts a light-weight monocoque body in which the foldable seat, footrests and body cover that also function as the frame are stored in the body of the device, achieving highly portable convenience. Key specifications of the experimental model: - Length×Width×Height(mm) = 315×160×650 - Weight = less than 10kg - Battery Type = Lithium ion battery - Operation time (with fully charged battery) = 1 hour * Based on Hondas internal research

U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype
With U3-X Honda rethinks the concept of personal mobility, providing the rider with freedom of movement in any direction forward, backward, sideways and diagonally by simply leaning slightly in the desired direction. The lightweight and compact one-wheeled device also features a foldable seat and retractable footrests. A lithium-ion battery pack provides power for up to one-hour of use and can be recharged by plugging in to a conventional household or office 120-volt power outlet. Weighing roughly 22 pounds, U3-X uses an advanced Honda proprietary balance-control system which derives from its research into human walking dynamics for the development of the ASIMO bi-pedal humanoid robot. To realize full freedom of movement in all directions, the U3-X also employs the worlds first omni-directional driving wheel system (Honda Omni Traction Drive System) which utilizes a series of concentrically mounted wheels a larger, forward and backward moving inner wheel and a series of smaller sideways moving outer wheels. Diagonal motion is achieved when both forward and sideways moving wheels operate in tandem. In addition, the compact size and one-wheel-drive design of U3-X was intended to provide user-friendly and pedestrian-friendly operation with low-mounted foot pedals that make it easy for the rider to reach the ground, and a seat height that places the rider at approximately the same eye-level as other people.

The Census Is Getting Personal

Comments like "I just filled out my form and it didn't have any of the questions you mentioned" are generally withheld from posting. It is not necessary to enter your comment more than once. If you want the straight scoop, a great online resource of all kinds information about the Census is at: http://www.thejohnnycakefiles.com/census Many people have requested the list below: QUESTIONS THAT THE CENSUS BUREAU REFUSED OR FAILED TO ANSWER (from Jerry Day's Matrix News Network segment: "The Census Is Getting Personal"): 1) The Constitution authorizes government to count people but it does not authorize the taking of private information or even the names of individuals. From where does the Census Bureau derive authority to demand our private information? 2) Is there any limit to the amount and type of private information that the Census bureau may demand and collect? 3) Under what Constitutional authority does the Census Bureau collect information now from 250,000 people per month of every year? 4) The 4th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits government search and seizure of private information without a court warrant based on probable cause, Current Census policies violate that Amendment do they not? 5) By what Constitutional authority does the Census Bureau threaten penalties for failure to provide personal information? 6) The Census Bureau claims it maintains privacy of personal information, Are there any circumstances under which law enforcement or spy agencies can access Census information? 7) Since presumably Census data may be subpoenaed by law enforcement, may individuals refuse to answer questions according to the fifth Amendment? 8) Why has the Census Bureau decided to collect GPS coordinates for every home? 9) Virtually every government database has been either lost, hacked or compromised, would the Census Bureau's claim of data security not be an outright lie or at best highly improbable? 10) How would the Census Bureau locate, protect and compensate those individuals whose data becomes compromised? There is a great deal of confusion about the Census "short form" and "Long Form" because the Census Bureau has failed to equally publicize the two current approaches. Part of the video refers to the long form called the "American Community Survey" which has 12 pages of questions, many of which are much more probing than the short form.
